#WhoMadeTheFabric: Maheshram, a social entrepreneur who started supporting weavers in 1973, now works with 79 weavers and artisans in Chhattisgarh, India providing marketing support for sustainable livelihood of the artisans. Maheshram is recipient of India’s Rajiv Gandhi National Unity award.

#WhoMadeTheBlouse: Rama is a graduate of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, India. After tiring of her Corporate career, she set up a blouse design center in Bangalore, India in 2009 as a social enterprise which only employs women from underserved communities. Any woman who wants to learn tailoring can join the enterprise and she takes them in with no questions asked and quickly assesses their potential and expertise and puts them on to a suitable job. Most women stay on with her and acquire expertise under her mentorship.

Product Name: Cotton hand woven Ikkat, hand tailored blouse

#WhoMadeTheFabirc: Master Weaver from Puttapaka, Telangana in India, started his weaving enterprise in 2012 with an objective to provide sustainable livelihood for weavers in his community. There are 25 weavers currently working with him working on contemporary designs using traditional styles of weaving. Puttapaka is a village famous for the tie and dye technique of dyeing and weaving.

WhoMadeTheGarment: Komal heads the non-profit based in Jaipur, India, which was setup to help underserved women in disadvantaged neighborhoods with Continuing Education and vocational skill development. The non-profit currently working with 2500 women, and a small group of women are supported and mentored to form their own tailoring/sewing collective.
